DBS has been rated the safest bank in SG..

@ $6 + divy slightly more than 5%... definitely worth investing for the long term/ recovery..

DBS divy pretty good.. 60-80c every yr
1H 08 40(40); 3Q 20(NIL) FY08 14(40) ; bracket are FY07
OCBC divy abt 20c every year..
1H 08 14(14); FY08 14(14)

UOB about 60c every yr...
1H 08 20(35); FY08 40(45)

which bank to choose...By now, u shold able to gather all info about d above 3 local banks, ie 1st tier capital, exposure to bad debt, including expected further write down in time to come, strong capital base for effective opt and most importantly what would their expective turnover n profit over d next Q n 1H. And what other stretegy to enforce to improve or counter d gloomy banking business ahead, ie UOB now is going to tie with SingPost to offer HDB house loan.

You decide loh. BTW, as d next Div announcement will be after Jun ds yr, hence u monitor their First Q performance first n subsequently focus on d one u hv logged on to catch d div later.

Make money on CFD shorting DBS.. but paper loss on buy midas at 0.50cent. Sian man....

Dun see where the new revenue is coming for DBS in 2009. Show me where DBS will make alot next year From...WHICH AREA DBS WILL MAKE ALOT OF MONEY. SITTING ON CASH DUN GET U RICH. Use the right issue to redeem their own loan ( to make a accounting profit perhaps, so that writedown will be less significant) Government should lower tier 1 ratio BAILOUT PUMP CASH AND RAISE TIER RATIO DEFEAT THE PURPOSE FOR BAILOUT NOT LENDING IN THE ECONOMY ???

From Investment - maybe not in 2009

From Loan - So cautious how to get more profit (shrink lending meaning less profit)

Credit Spending - likely to be curb.. (nore write off)

From Selling investment profuct - units trust and credit deriative (most dun dare to buy)

The busineess model is likely to be weaken, in a recession.

retailers now smart, analyst can try but retailers dun bite.

Hi, Bro, today DBS drop to 6.45. Do you think it can drop further around S$ 5 ? The px is very attractive, but dare not buy worry go down further ....

ocbc is exposed to SMEs loan...so do you think the share price will be impacted if defaulted.  So generally I think all the share price will still go down unless the economy picks up.  To me DBS still have room to drop further - free fall unless suitation in US improves.

No joke! the real fact is infront of our eyes. Fund raising should not through capital market now, instead merge internationally would be more wiseful perhaps!!!

All analysts are saying that there is no end in sight for the downturn to stop within the next couple of years.  Since all analysts are saying that, I've sold every dm stocks in evry markt. Heng ah!

AK opines that d otherwise, simply not optimistic. By end Apr, bks will announce their respective 1Q result. More write down owing to bad debt, shrinking in money lending etc will definitely hinder their next Q performance. Moreover, US n EU finance sectors are still gloomy n full of uncertainty.

Above just AK views, for sharing only, no call for anything.
