SPH triggered a One White soldier formation on the technical charts. Looking good at the moment.

no doubt it's a good stock. However, its exposure to properties / real estate investment is a risk, think just a small portion of its portfolio.  Purely my guess.......

Agree with your view. I can still remember when attending its AGM, many of its shareholders are granny/grandpa status with some as old as Tony Tan or Yong PH. Hahaha!

This counter is good for retiree...
  • SPH is governed by the Newspaper and Printing

Presses Act* in Singapore, which states that no person
shall hold > 5% of the shares of a newspaper company
without the approval of the MICA^ Minister
  •   SPH has a diversified shareholder base as our shares

are widely held by global and local institutions, as well as
                individuals

To some retail investor, they just treat it like a bank interest.

Going in and out - brokerage fee also quite high if one has big lot.

Sometime no time to buy hack at low price.

Just my view and this may not be suitable for some.

Newbies should take a look  at the postings here on how a good counter can let them profit in long term especially comparing them in putting money in CPF.

Not necessarily   buying   big lots unless one has good capital to start off with.

Can anyone share with us the devidend yield for local stock...

bikerlover      ( Date: 25-Apr-2011 19:47) Posted:

It's dividend though  is rather attractive in terms of yield percentage, but if you carefully throughout the stocks avaliable in the local stock exchange, you can see stocks with much higher yield at around 7% to 8% per year.
