CHECK IT OUT!!
Shorts worldwide had been earning big bucks for many years in most markets except the shorts in the US where obviously they were burnt black.
Shorts these few years have big money to spend and further short markets. Wahahaa..
With so much money they have earned, it is many players' hopes that these shorts throw back some money to the market so that the market can live on and on and they can still continue shorting to their sour delights.   And the only way they can throw some money back is to short in a rising market that climbs and climbs forever or at least for many years to come.
Hahaha. Just joking only lah shorts.   If you are one of those shorts, don't be angry as anger always lead to more disastrous decisions. Wahahaha!!!

Hmmmm some strong interest in some counters today..... knn..... its still penny play....
Singapore's shares may have turned risk-on after Wall Street's rally to fresh record highs, but someone forgot to tell the commodity-trader plays, which are underperforming.
While players may have concerns over their upcoming results releases, " the soft earnings have been kind of priced in," says Carey Wong, an analyst at OCBC. But he notes, " increasingly, there's a view the super commodity cycle may be nearing its end and so a pullback is definitely not surprising. It remains to be seen what other measures the governments around the world can come up with to boost economic growth. If Japan really puts money into infrastructure, we may see a pretty rapid recovery in commodities."
But he notes, China doesn't look particularly strong, with authorities looking at " high" rather than " super" growth. While the STI is up 0.4%, Wilmar (F34.SG) is down 0.6% at $3.35 and Noble (N21.SG) is down 0.4% at $1.18.
Olam (O32.SG) is up 0.3% at $1.67, although it could see some short-covering emerge after Wednesday's spike in short selling to 1.02 million shares. Golden Agri (E5H.SG) is flat at $0.57.

Market Recap
US equities enjoyed their third straight session of gains on continued corporate earnings optimism. The Dow and S& P 500 set new records as gains across all sectors boosted the indices. The info tech (+1.8%) and healthcare (+1.7%) sectors were the best performers while the Dow was led by gains from Merck (+2.9%) and Pfizer (+2.8%). Composite volume on the NYSE increased to 3.5b from 3.2b. The smaller-than-expected increase in crude inventories outweighed a slight cut in world oil-demand forecast by OPEC. WTI Crude for May added 44 cents, or 0.5%, to end at US$94.64/barrel but Brent for May delivery lost 44 cents, or 0.4%, to end at US$105.79/barrel. Gold for Jun delivery fell US$27.90, or 1.8%, to end at US$1,558.80/ounce after the Fed offered mixed signals on the tenure of its bond-buying programme. Silver for May shed 23 cents to US$27.65/ounce. |

Implications for Singapore The rally by US indices to another new all-time high overnight is likely to boost local sentiments this morning. And with the STI showing signs of forming a near-term bottom yesterday (close was also significantly off its intraday low), we could start to see a potential recovery in the days ahead. For now, the immediate base remains at the 3280 resistance-turned-support. Below that, the subsequent base lies at the 3250 minor trough. On the upside, the immediate resistance is still pegged at the 3330 key peak, followed by the subsequent resistance at the 3400 psychological hurdle. |
