Yes, it helps me have a grasp of the true value of the stock.....and when I see an undervalued  stock, I can invest aggressively and not lose sleep over the fickleness of the market gyrations.

Does anyone know the value of UIC building that UIC carries in its books?

From news report a few days ago, the asking price for UIC Building is $830mil. UIC's share of it will be about $654 mil. This works out to be about 47.5 cts per share.

Given that UIC's NAV is $1.44, and that about $1.32 is attributed to its stake in SpLand,

then, book value of the UIC Bldg + other non SpLand assets is $1.44 - $1.32 = 12cts.

So, it can be safely concluded that book value of UIC Bldg is < 12 cts..... say 10 cts ?

Hence, net gain from the sale of UIC Building will be

47.5cts - 10 cts = 37.5 cts per share. 



This wil be higher if they are able to get a higher price than $830 mil.



This is just my  conservative guesstimate.....

 

UIC bottomed out in last Q of 2002. Next real bottom ? last Q of 2007 or 1st Q of 2008. So peak around last Q of 2006 to 1stQ 2007.

Ya... I had connection problems too... intermittent and slow. I thought my PC is gone kaput too... I checked all my wiring, etc... most important, one must not lose the quote and trading screens. If it is just a matter of slowing down, it's still bearable.

I have no problems accessing SJ. I only find problems with US based sites. Gmail and Google takes an awful time to load.

Could be a network congestion in your location.

I review FA whenever there is news of Co., or the industry its in and their earnings trend from their financial reporting. I do not mind buying more at a higher price if I think the upside potential is still intact.

I will sell when I feel that its overpriced.

As for UIC, I will wait to see the potential gain it can derive from the sale of UIC building and the FY06 results to ascertain my next move.



On another topic.....do you find the SJ site very slow today...perhaps due to the earthquake in Tpe?...or is it my computer?

Actually I am thinking of the dip... I hate dips coz it sometimes can take about one week before going up again, but since I see other counters ready to spurt, I will get in. Then if UIC's dip is attractive next week, I will jump back in. I am very fickle-minded when it comes to stocks.

No, since today UIC up 5c and also Starhub breakout today so I went in... :)

Oops UIC dropped back a bit to 2.09... (I just sold off at 212).

Anyway it's just a normal correction, as some are cashing out after the long run up from 1.90.

hehe rickytan, don't listen to ipunter too much; i believe that guy/girl moves quite fast. hold your nerves when dealing with the punter. :)

am quite free now... so if you like, if you can kindly point me to the latest report on UIC (actual report or the link), i could call a retail FA sell target for you? (altho my best advice is still to follow the trend). then judge for yourself if UIC or starhub has better potential.
