Yangzijiang Shipbuilding: New order flow continues; upgrade to BUY
Summary: Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (YZJ) has continued to secure orders in recent weeks, bringing full year new order intake to about US$1.5b, excluding options worth about US$300m. As this is in line with our new order estimates, we keep our FY11/12 forecasts intact. Statistics released by China’s Ministry of Industry & Information Technology last Friday also painted a relatively healthy picture of China’s shipbuilding industry. However, challenges such as an appreciating RMB and rising costs are issues that yards including YZJ have to contend with. Unlike many Chinese shipyards, YZJ emerged stronger from the 2008 crisis, evident from its acquisitions, improved execution abilities and increased publicity from its TDR listing. The group’s prospects look bright, and we now peg YZJ at 15x FY11F core earnings (prev. 13x), in line with the industry average. As such, our fair value estimate rises to S$2.36 (prev. S$2.04). Upgrade to BUY. (Low Pei Han)

maybe today got chance to break 2.09 or 2.1
lagging too much behind cosco 2.33
yzj always seems to stay sideways for quite some time before moving again...if mkt bull lasts for another 2 weeks i think yzj will move up. IMHO.
sian not sure to keep YZJ or not ....

SINGAPORE, Jan 18 (Reuters) - OCBC Investment Research has upgraded Singapore-listed Chinese shipbuilder Yangzijiang
STATEMENT: Yangzijiang delivered 48 vessels last year, better than 40 in 2009 and 27 in 2008, and OCBC said it expects the company to deliver 50 vessels this year, due to a healthy outlook for the Chinese shipbuilding industry.
The brokerage also said it expects Yangzijiang's net profit to rise by 24 percent in 2010 and 14 percent in 2011. "Unlike many Chinese shipyards, Yangzijiang emerged stronger from the 2008 crisis, evident from its acquisitions, improved execution abilities and increased publicity from its Taiwan depository receipts listing," said OCBC in a report.
Yangzijiang shares have risen about 67 percent since the start of last year to close at S$2.02 on Monday.

DBS recommends BUY with Target Price of $2.60
Yangzijiang announced that it has secured 15 bulk carrier
contracts worth US$415.3m comprising: 1) Six units of 82.5k
dwt; 2) Four units of 49.5k dwt; 3) Three units of 47.5k dwt;
and 4) Two units of 7.6k dwt. bulkers. The vessels are
scheduled for delivery from 2011 to 2013. The sizeable wins
mark a strong start to the year for Yangzijiang, making up 28%
of our 2011 order win assumption of US$1.5bn. Maintain BUY
and TP of S$2.60. We continue to like Yangzijiang as one of
the most well-run Chinese yards and beneficiaries to ride the
revived containership interests.

Yangzijiang (BS6.SG) is +3.5% at $2.08, its highest level since December 2007 with a strong 32 million shares traded, after the China-based shipbuilder says it secured 15 newbuild orders worth US$415.3 million ($534.6 million) in 4Q10; vessels will be delivered 2011-2013.
UOB KayHian, which has a Buy rating and a $2.37 target, says the orders bring YZJ’s full-year newbuild orders to 50 vessels totaling US$1.39 billion.
“The value is mildly below our forecast of US$1.50 billion but is still a favorable number to YZJ. However, as we didn’t see any newbuilding orders of containerships in 4Q10, we expect more such orders in 2011 given improved profitability of container carriers, which helps to underpin YZJ’s newbuilding orders value and improve margins from 2012 onwards.”
Adds, valuation of 12.5X 2012E P/E “looks undemanding given the strong momentum for newbuilding orders.” Orderbook suggests $2.10 cap today.
