OCBC- Technical Analysis
OCBC Bank resolved a symmetrical triangle formation to the upside on December 28. The ensuing rally stalled just above the initial target of the recent peak at 10.30. The stock shaped a bearish doji candle last Friday and pulled back below 10.30 in yesterday's trade. It remains to be seen whether current support at 10.12 can hold. A drop below could extend the correction towards around 9.88. Decisive violation of the latter area would negate the bullish outlook and turn it neutral. Further downside towards the trough of November 24 at 9.24 would be possible then. It takes a close above last week's high at 10.36 to resume uptrend immediately. Potential mid-term upside targets remain at around 10.80/10.90.

Drop in Mortgage Default Rate
![]() |
As a result of improved economic sentiment, the default rate on mortgages has almost halved from 0.5% in March 2008 to 0.29% in March 2010, according to statistics from Credit Bureau (Singapore), Singapore’s consumer credit bureau. A loan is classified as default when it is 90 days past due.
The statistics also show that consumers aged 50-59 have overtaken younger borrowers as the group with the highest mortgage default rate in March 2010. The 50-59 age group’s default rate stood at 0.45% in March 2010, down from 0.63% in March 2008. In contrast, consumers aged 21-29 had a default rate of 0.27% on their mortgages in March 2010. In March 2008, these young consumers had the highest percentage of defaults at 1.05%.
While mortgage defaults and perhaps even other types of consumer debt may be down as a result of the better economy, consumers should not be complacent. How can older and younger consumers enhance their credit reputation and manage their payment patterns to improve their credit worthiness so as to secure future borrowings?
Target Price: UOB $19, OCBC $10, DBS $14.50
All 3 are in overbought region due to January effect and slew of good news at the start of year.
Aiyoo...Evening star formation leh... How to support? It's super tempting for shortists
Now gotta depend on what's gonna happen over the wkend...
1 key event I think can look out for is potential yuan appreciation when Obama meets with Hu next wk. Currency play may cause more confusion for this counter as it has reached peak.

OCBC - Technical Analysis
OCBC Bank maintained a bullish short-term bias since the stock resolved a symmetrical triangle formation to the upside on December 28. It eventually hit and closed slightly above the initial target at the recent peak at 10.30 in yesterday's trade. Next potential mid-term upside objective is located at around 10.80/10.90 if the stock can hold above 10.30 in the coming sessions. A close beneath would suggest a near-term pullback. Next support levels below are 10.12 and then 9.88. Decisive violation of the latter area would negate the bullish outlook and turn it neutral.
