An investor must weigh his willingness and cost of holding the stock.

He must do research and have expectation of return. He bought at 1.60 present return with expected 5cts dividend is 3.1 percent. which can also hold but YZJ at 1.6 is 80 percent of its recent high after 2008 crash. How low do you expect YZJ to drop and at what price you are willing to enter and hold? what is the cost of holding? that is any investor much decide and do research with any company you intend to enter and hold. Best is of course you enter at 60cts but can it drop to that level? history shows good probability but with YZJ present balance sheet attract much interest and with such balance sheet and company intend to carry out share buy back of up to $225million worth make it more likely that high support level at 0.80.

If its me, I willing to go in at $1.00 (of course the lower I enter better expected profit margin) and willing to hold with expectation of dividend of 5cts or 5 percent for a year or two.

This is the second round I am in YZJ after buying at 1.08 and selling at 1.91 in more than a year of holding.

YZJ business had order book up to 2014 and anymore business between now and then will be growth.

If you intend to hold short term then forget investment and go for trading.

Trading you buy in with Stop Loss target price and Profit target price. In fast run fast.

Monday, 05 December 2011/  Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (YZJ):  Macquarie Equities Research has initiated coverage of the shipbuilder with an Outperform rating and a $1.34 target price, or an upside of 52%.

It sees key catalysts from 1) entry into the Offshore & Marine (O& M) segment and 2) new order wins, especially for its flagship 10,000TEU SAVER designs.

" YZJ is the top pick in our Chinese shipbuilding coverage as we believe it should continue to deliver the highest ROE with its highly profitable yard operations and enhanced returns by investing its high cash balance," wrote Macquarie analysts Shuwei Quek and Janet Lewis, CFA.

" It also has the strongest financial position of the companies in our coverage to withstand the current slowdown in new orders."

Macquarie opined that YZJ’s strong balance sheet acts as a signal of strength to shipowners. " Orders are more likely to gravitate toward shipbuilders with sufficient working capital to complete orders despite the climate of increasingly tail-heavy final payments. Banks are also more likely to cooperate and finance foreign shipowners alongside financially strong yards such as YZJ."

YZJ could also tap its high cash balance of Rmb6.7bn and make inroads into the O& M segment.

Macquarie highlighted risks, including possible losses from held-to-maturity investments that YZJ has invested in.

As YZJ’s held-to-maturity assets provide financing to domestic corporates, sharp economic weaknesses could affect these corporates’ repayment ability.

YZJ mitigated against such risk by requiring all loans be collateral-backed and carry an overall weighted average coverage ratio of 2.0x (marked-to-market on quarterly basis) of the value of the loans.

There is too much pessimism in the market. In due course, we will look back at today and view it as missed opportunity.
YZJ is a good stock, one of many now afloat out there: YANZIJIANG target $1.34, OKP 64 cents, CEREBOS 'rock-solid'

Chinese stock market to rebound

Investors are getting interested in China-related stocks while global stock market has made a sudden turnaround.

As Chinese government made an announcement regarding its withdrawal of retrenchment policy, experts see that share prices of Chinese shipbuilders, steel makers, etc., would rebound.

Analyst Park Jin-Ha from Hi Investment Securities of South Korea said on 1 December, " Euro-zone crisis would disturb a sharp rally by China's reduction of cash reserve ratio, however, Chinese government's recent move is expected to provide rebounding momentum for shipbuilding and steel related shares, which have been in a big depression."

Ren expect 2013 Loss in Shipbuilding to be covered by 2 Division - Ship Breaking and Offshore Structures which we know is one of the most profitable.

From 2012 we will expect ship breaking activity to increase, older ships and fuel consumption designed ship, companies will start to scrap due to Shipping oversupply situation.

From 2012 due to credit crunch in Europe, most European Shipping companies will face high interest rate in ship financing.

YZJ being cash rich can offer financing arrangement with Chinese Banks will competitive rates for European Shipping companies. European credit crunch could turn into China benefit in ship building which need high capital.

Will credit crunch and corporate failure in Euro Zone affect YZJ in next 12 month?

Can ship breaking business cover loss in shipbuilding margin after 2013?

“Yangzijiang… is well-positioned with a healthy order book until next year and shouldn’t face any earnings pressure until 2013,” Ren says. By then, it would have begun generating new revenue streams from ship breaking and building steel structures for the offshore sector, businesses that commenced operations in 3Q2011.By 2015, Ren hopes to derive 40% of revenue from the two new divisions, with the remaining turnover coming from shipbuilding.
