SINGAPORE: CapitaLand said its second quarter net profit rose 17.4 per cent to S$399 million. That's up from a re-stated S$339.7 million profit in the same period a year ago. CapitaLand, which is southeast Asia's biggest developer, attributed the gain to higher development income in Singapore, fair value gains, and the sale of a residential site in China. Revenue climbed 25 per cent to S$740.4 million. CapitaLand said Singapore's strengthening currency was an "ongoing concern," with more than 60 per cent of revenue coming from outside the country. However, it reiterated its interest in new investments, and said it would continue pursuing developments in Singapore and China.

The problem is when prices shoot to the peak,

people will feel extremely bullish all over, and they buy.

When prices drop like sheet, they also feel bullish, and they buy...

But when it falls more after they bought, they buy some more...

Thus it is more than LPPL... Smiley

Anyone knows the inflation situation in China?

Heard they will be revising interest rate again in Aug 10..

I am itching to average down my Capitaland but I will only enter if share price fell to around 2.75 ...

Is it wise to go in now or after China revise their interest rate?

Buy low  sell peak?  must hv  HOLDING POWER, otherwise gotta run road everytime price drop. There4, buy within our means, and must  pick the right stock.

Solid results, and promise of  billion$ projects in  pipeline. Finally crapland is begining to  see light, approaching the end of the tunnel. May even see some fireworks! poooooof

DJ MARKET TALK: QE3 Could Be On The Cards This Month -Kim Eng
Dow Jones Newswires | 03 Aug 2011 2:33pm

0633 GMT [Dow Jones] With regional stock markets sharply lower, even after the U.S. avoided an immediate debt default, Kim Eng says " the threat of a U.S. debt rating downgrade persists and investors continue to worry about global economic health." However, it adds, " looking on the bright side, with the U.S. debt ceiling raised and economic growth slowing down, the Federal Reserve might have no choice but to announce QE3 as early as this month, and this will provide support for equity markets." It says the recent selldown in Singapore large-caps has been exacerbated for some with negative company-specific news, such as Cosco Corp (F83.SG) and SIA (C6L.SG), while for names such as NOL (N03.SG), Yangzijiang (BS6.SG) and Noble (N21.SG), which are yet to announce results, " there are worries over their earnings outlook amid a slowing economy." The house adds, " we find no reason for the recent sell-down on CapitaLand (C31.SG) and CapitaMalls Asia (JS8.SG), given that concerns about their China exposure had long persisted." The STI is down 1.8% at 3119.72. (matthew.allen@dowjones.com)

The part that says ...

[ CapitaLand said it made about $5 billion of new investments in

Singapore, China, Australia and Vietnam in the first half of the year.]

This can be mistakenly misunderstood by some to be $5b profits.

But I read it as new commitments made and not profits.

But this is a good stock. .. Smiley

On Wednesday, Capitaland gap down and closed at $2.80 with HIGH volume of 26.5 million shares traded.

A falling window occurred (where the bottom of the previous shadow is above the top of the current shadow). This usually implies a continuation of a bearish trend. There have been 3 falling windows in the last 50 candles–this makes the current falling window even more bearish.

Both RSI & MACD are bearish as RSI trend downwards.

Important Resistance of Capitaland: $2.95

Immediate Support of Capitaland: $2.75

Currently prices are resisted by 20/50 days MA at $2.95.

Buying/holding   =    betting on it rising.

Selling/shorting    =    betting on it falling.

Waiting to buy very low   =    betting on it falling, but have peace of mind...

(SINGAPORE) The Real Estate Developers' Association of Singapore (Redas) is stepping up efforts to engage property stock analysts, as the outlook for the private home sector here remains shrouded by weakening market sentiments and concerns over potential over-supply.

Sources told BT that the industry body had a discussion with analysts and consultants on Monday, and it could be the start of more frequent meetings ahead.

Redas confirmed yesterday that it had organised an informal gathering, attended by 17 analysts from 14 brokerage houses and five consultants.( BT 3/8/11)

CapLand current price range (2.78-2.82) looks attractive...be prepared to hold for long....note anything can happen, good or bad.
