Why they allow the bank s not to pay interest for USD and Sterling poud deposits for any duration say 1mth,3 mths 6mths nad even 1 year.My mum has some poud sterling with Maybank(Singapore Branch) and is receiving zero interest rates for 3 mth basis,upon request to switch to 1 year also no interest will be given.
Although US and UK are at near zero interest rates,I believe at least 0.01%(which is even <local saving rates of 0.25%) should be given.Not long ago some queried UOB ex-chairman why UOB not giving any interest for ACU USD account during the bank"EGM...he immmediately spraqng into action the next day.
