I have serious doubts about investing in China now. The global economy is in the deep end of the sea now and China's exports will decline significantly next year. Also I still remember the scandals in China companies in the last 2 years that slaugtered many people's portfolios.

I'd personally prefer those with governmental contracts or those involved in environmental engineering/waste treatment/infrastructure construction in China. Do note however, look for signs of solid corporate governance too. Don't anyhow whack; just look at those firms like Ferrochina, gone bankrupt. There are also other firms with distressed finances, but solid business models. If only Hyflux had major investments in China.... |

Sihuan maybe quite attractive too. However, its price at 51 cents is still a premium to its NAV of about 28 cents. For a china stock, the gearing is surprising low though. | ||

yes i agree china stocks are good if u know what to buy. sadly those in sti are 2nd rated or rated stocks. may have to look at hongkong for better ones. enerygy and constructions counter should be ones as they directly benefit from the usd570billions budget to build airports, alternative sources power stations and transports system. |

hi fellow friends, i have read in the edge magazine, the fund managers wrote that now is a good time to buy and hold to China stocks. with the stimulus being rolled out by the chinese Government, it definetely benefit the Companies in China in LongRun. Talking about that, most of the lucrative China companies are listed in HK market, and those listed in the SGX are small-fry company. Those recommended by the fund managers, are mostly trading in HSI. A year ago, many jumped in S-shares, speculating that the SWF will be coming to buy S-shares listed in SGX, and were stuck in it painfully and unwillingly(looking at their prices now). This time round, as S-shares are cheaper, do you guys thing that SWF will take the chance to scoop up S-shares? Does any1 do analysis on S-shares? My favourite would be Midas, as its main biz is in Transportation and railways. however, the low of 30c has already been passed, and iam just staring at it, hopefully will come lower to let me scoop abit :) |
