Buy-in T+1 – CDP more efficient than I thot! Tks AK for clarifying.
From now on, better count fingers again and again to avoid that $1K.
P.S. Enjoy reading your humorous postings. Keep up the cheerful attitude. |

If AK not mistaken, T+4 no existance. Failing to recover the same day: CDP will buy in for u next day, 11.30am, 2 bids higher than market price. However, if then the market price is lower than previous day closing price, including pre-closed period, then CDP uses the previous day closing price. $30 mandatory clearing fee. GST applies. 5% fine on the proceed or $1000, whichever is higher. CDP dun give u free medication, if u headache. Check with your TR, for more details on your respective broking house. |

So, it is now SGX buy-in tomorrow and not T+4, is it? I thot $1,000 fine only if shorted unsuccessfully (i.e. counter go higher instead of lower than sell price). But then I heard either way need to come up w/ the $??

Short selling these few years were good profit making strategies. Five years back difficult because if you sell short, "they" tended to mark your account and go after you. You short at $1.00, you will see the share price go to $1.10 within seconds. Now if you short, "they" will join you to short more. Make your own decision and understand your own risk appetite.

Borrowing script is like trading with Margin Account. First you need to open an CFD account. This account will give you the rights to buy and sell, of course brokerage is high! More info can be found in all Securities Web portal or SGX.

Short selling and cover back at the end of the day is fine. However if short and did not cover at the end of the day due to overlook, or counters halt trading, then there will be a fine of $1000 + 5% brokerage. SGX will buy back tomorrow for u at tomorrow's price.

No, singapore no ban and no discourage short selling. Only you borrow shares to short sell and then buy back few days later. If you no borrow shares, you short today, you buy today then no problem. But you short sell today you buy back tomorrow you have problem, fine you some money.

may i enquire, since singapore had already ban short selling in the market. what does it mean when people talk about shorting ? is there any loopholes that still allows short selling ? eg: sell and buy within a day ? pardon me for my ignorance |
