COE prices drop!

Wish. 2-yr old car @57k. I wanted it lower but very diff to bargain with the dealer as car price was high then. But mine came with back air-con ducting and TV and it looked brand new. Most of the prices can be found in http://www.singaporecarsonline.com. At that time, new wish was about $76. I think there is also a 10k cash back with interest. I think savings of a few k only but don't need so high upfront. Nowadays, must save money as economy is no good and a lot of ERP etc around.

Yeah, I don't understand why COE low means must buy new car. I intend to drive till 10 years. I think I have 5 more years to go. My 8 - 10th year no more car payment. If every time change car, every time pay - pay and pay.

Read in the papers that Govt will also be reducing the number of COEs in the coming months. See if this equation holds true: Fewer COEs -> Fewer new cars -> Fewer old cars taken off the road -> More repair/maintenance for current cars-> Good to invest in listed companies that do servicing/inspection...(eg Vicom?) |

I've come to the conclusion that it is most cost effective if we drive our cars longer. All the gimmicks given by the dealer is all not very true. At the end of the day, the loss is much greater changing car often. In fact, my present car is a 2nd hand 2-yr old car ! Save me a lot of money like upfront cash, interest, etc. Fun also, sourcing around, getting to know the market etc. Have more money for investment as well! Only risk is reliability. Generally, car is very reliable nowadays. |

hhhmmmm.... tempted to buy car now Biggest drop in COE prices for Cat A COE prices for cars up to 1,600cc, Category A, experienced one of the biggest drops to $9,501, a 24 per cent decrease. Prices for Category B also dropped slightly by 3.6 per cent to $13,389. Category C prices rose from $12,989 to $13,889, a 6.9 per cent increase. Similarly, premiums in Category D, motorcycles, gained 10.8 per cent, from $1,310 to $1,452. Prices for Open Category E gained 2.1 per cent, from $14,001 to $14,300. |
