Li Ka-shing: never heard of RMB400B stimulus package

Commenting on yesterday's press report that the government of mainland China was planning to launch RMB400 billion stimulus package, Cheung Kong (00001) chairman Li Ka-shing said today he had not heard of such plan.

Under normal situation, the stock market should reflect the performance of the economy, Li said.

He said the reported amount would be minimal as a boost for either the Shanghai or Shenzhen stock exchanges, and a government plan like that would have been impractical. Then he urged stock investors to be aware of their own strength when investing.
