Today My Blue chips drop by 15K. My 2nd liners drop by 9K. My 3rd liners drop by 0K (has dropped by 81%, so seem not much to drop anymore). Just wonder in a bear market, is it the trend such that 3rd liner will drop first, followed by 2nd liner. When 3 rd liners have no meat to drop anymore, then the Blue chips will start to drop furiously! And does it mean that bear is ending soon ? |

For 2-4 yrs time frame, equity is still the best! Proven historically. Stick to good ones. I've said we can never catch the bottom. Just nibble along the way. |

There are many things going against the Aussie Dollar now. Today's rate cut, the drop in commodity prices all affect the AUD. Because commodity prices are related to global economic health, it may still be downtrending for some time.

For me....almost 20K just this year alone....not paper loss.....but hard real $$$ ! *painful * Mainly due to Lian Beng, Straits Asia, SGX counter. Everytime just want to recover back some kopi money from contra and shorting.....who knows ALWAYS BUY AND SELL AT THE WRONG TIME.....got deeper and deeper into it. Actually my fortune tells me I will have no luck in gambling. this year......see lah.....never listen....and now like that. Really just like under some bad curse. |

Exactly. But when? Nobody knows. But their interest rate is pretty high, so as long as it doesn't plunge to $0, I think the interest rate made will cover the loses over time. Like you said, retirement fund just leave it there lor.

Not trying to show off here but just to demonstrate the benefits of being flexible and playing both ways. I shorted the market this year (almost exclusively) and made more than 100K so far. |

aya retirement fund=not urgent needs so juz let it park there for a while lah..these countries(au and nz) are commodities exporting countries....there will be a time their $$ will shine again.... :D | ||||

Har, really? FD also can loss $$$....oh dear.. For me, the losses becos of my itchy hand lor... buy Olam ..then took up share placement ...now paper losss Buy wilmar....commodity play down....now paper loss buy Kep Corp....buy cheap but now cheaper....now paper loss sometime might as well dont do anything better...heee heee Actually this thread is for loss on shares...but nevermind lah...at least I learnt something & thank for sharing... |

AUD will be down for a while cos the world base metal px has fallen and just today the Australian reserve bank has cut interest rate by 1%. NZ is in recession and the NZD tracks AUD.If AUD falls then NZD will also fall.

I put some money in NZD fixed deposits and also sufferred a bit of paper lost. Was hoping that interest earned may cover the loss over time since the rate is still very high. Proberly when NZD recover, will see profits. Meanwhile, going long for now. | ||||

I didn't play stocks but put money in AUD fixed deposits. I have lost almost $25K paper loss now because a few weeks after I put in the money, the Aussie crashed. I thought that fixed deposits is very safe. Now I have lost a big chunk of my retirement money.
