May 20 (Bloomberg) -- Petroleo Brasileiro SA, which in November announced the largest Western Hemisphere oil discovery in three decades, plans to order 40 oil drilling ships and drill platforms worth about $30 billion for delivery by 2017.

While preference will be given to Brazilian-built equipment, foreign contractors and yards will also be allowed to bid on the ships, the Petrobras statement said. The Brazilian government has low-cost loans available for Brazilian ship construction. Petrobras hopes to spark the construction of these vessels by offering leases to builders and operators.

Foreign companies already in Brazil building ships include Singapore's Keppel Corp. and SembCorp Industries Ltd., Galliano, Louisiana-based Edison Chouest Offshore, and Oslo-based Aker Yards ASA. Brazilian companies include construction companies Construtora Camargo Correa SA, Construtora Queiroz Galvao SA, Grupo Wilson, Sons, and Construtora Norberto Odebrecht SA.

x 0 		ok lah... one more wild theory:  Maybe the BBs were just using clients' money to buy and buy because they had to divest their funds' cash holdings.  Then once they have fattened the cow, they can also do some shorting in their personal capacity to make some pocket money... and their clients' portfolio will still be alright because their investment horizon is longer.  lol, I want to join them when they are on their personal run Smiley

aya...BBs oso got black and white one wat?? black BB push up price...white BBs push it down loh..and small fries like us? get squeeze in between :P so to survive...u go with their TIDE ! :D

BBs don't throw big money to buy a lot. At low they alrdy accumulated substantial amount and subsequently pushing up the price by watching the small timer trading and act accordingly. Simply, they can block the B and S prices with huge alots. Imagine, small timer got $$ to buy all. BBs like to catch the shortiests.

haha... maybe I'll never understand how BBs make money out of throwing so much money into this in the first place.  I mean last week the BBs clearly wanted to rebuff shorting attempts by piling up the buy orders in never-ending waves, but today they don't seem to want to push their point anymore.

eh, so what's the reason for last week's massive push to get it past $12?

It's down to $11.60 now, so the damn costly exercise by BBs to get it to >$12 was for what?  If some objective has been met, I fail to see what it could be.
