Went searching for news this morning brings me to dong

http://m.donga.com/3/all/20120604/46758447/1

One of the 3 major dailies in south korea.

Below is the translation by google.

" The STX STX OSV, STX Energy, STX Heavy Industries, and other subsidiaries sold 2.5 trillion won through plans to get cash. The sale of stake in STX OSV pinkantieri - Carlyle Group Consortium and the final price set out in coordination state. The STX Energy, STX Heavy Industries Development Bank etc. and special purpose company (SPC) by establishing a plan to sell shares directly through publicly traded companies plan to"

Looks like its now not a matter of will the sale go through, but more of at what price will it go through as STX parent firm looks for 2.5 trillion  won from the sale of their 3 subsidaries.

This is a tricky situation. The price (if it is 1.60) is agreed between the bidder and STX PO at a different time frame. Whether the bidder is required to mandatory take over all the rest of the share is still a (?) mark. Another question is whether the successful bidder has obligation to take over the rest floating in the market at 1.60? It can be lower perhaps due to market condition if it is required to do so. So it is still a risk.

One question to ask all the gurus here: in the situation like this, doesn't it better for the bidder to buy from the open market at cheaper price rather than from STX at 1.60??

Thanks, will listen to your advice to choose the wait strategy. This time dunno where is the bottom. So many issues suddenly pop out: Greece, Spain, US slow recovery, China slowdown, etc, etc...

Better to hold cash. Looks like history going to repeat itself. Last time in 2008 is the housing debt bubble. This time round it is the EU member states debt bubble. Uncle sam's debt bubble is yet to be exposed. If china slows down too rapidly, china can also have a housing bubble! Prices going below 2008 level is now a possible reality!

I always believe there is no such thing as too much information. Here is a little something from korean site. http://www.asiae.co.kr/news/view.htm?idxno=2012053118571243087

  article is 3 days old.

I used google to translate the key point. Any sifu good in korean can help give a summary of the article?

" STX OSV meantime chujinhaeon soon after you finish the task of selling about 1 trillion won fund is expected to turn up. STX officials " STX OSV of the sale is completed next month with the final stages," he said."

read with a pinch of salt
