0718 GMT [Dow Jones] Genting Singapore (G13.SG) heads higher, currently among biggest blue chip risers as hopes build for new casino; shares +4.5% at S$0.805 vs STI +0.9%. Stock has had decent run recently with execution risks for gaming company's integrated resort on Singapore's Sentosa island subsiding as early 2010 open approaches with no hiccups. "There's no specific catalyst for today's rise that I can think of, but excitement does seem to be building about the integrated resorts again after the recent better news on the economy," says trader at local house. And while STI reached new year-to-date high this week, Genting remains below year-to-date high of S$0.91, hit in May just before controlling shareholder sold 9% stake, which sent the shares tumbling; investors could be eyeing stock as laggard play. Traded volume solid with 125 million shares traded vs 50-day average of 94 million; order book quotes suggest near-term resistance at S$0.815 with next resistance at year-to-date highest close of S$0.885 hit May 25. Not sure the Lim family wants to unload again but I heard from my friend who is working in Genting now, his boss going to push till $1.
I wish I trust my friend's info earlier and earning now but too bad I din't. :(
